ridgestone Australia has signed up to
support a pioneering program providing
front-line specialist medical services to regional
and remote communities across Queensland.
Heart of Australia was established in 2014 as
the nation’s first cardiology clinic-on-wheels.
Designed to overcome the challenge of distance
faced by many Queenslanders when it comes
to accessing medical services, the program is
delivered via a 25m-long, purpose-built clinic —
driven by a Kenworth prime mover.
Bridgestone has committed to providing tyres
for the Kenworth K200 prime mover as well as
Heart of Australia’s various support vehicles.
“The Heart of Australia concept is fantastic; it’s
innovative, it’s unique and it’s meaningful and
Bridgestone Australia is proud to have signed
on as a partner,” Bridgestone Australia and New
Zealand managing director Andrew Moffatt says.
“The Heart of Australia truck and associated
support vehicles are covering extensive mileage,
often in harsh and unforgiving conditions. We
are very pleased to be able to provide them with
quality tyres, as well as servicing support, to help
them reach their destinations safely and reliably.”
Heart of Australia’s self-sufficient trailer
provides two private clinic rooms, a testing
room and a reception area for patients. It is
wheelchair accessible and fully air-conditioned.
The team provides a number of services,
including cardiology consultations, stress
echocardiograms, exercise stress testing,
electrocardiograms and more.
“The Heart of Australia truck covered more than
72,000km in its first year on the road, treating
more than 1,700 people and, importantly, saving
some 60 lives,” Moffatt says.
“We’re enormously pleased to play a part
in ensuring the Heart of Australia team can
continue to offer this invaluable service.
Bridgestone’s philosophy is all about putting
yourself and your loved ones in safe hands when
you’re on the road, so we’re glad to put the Heart
of Australia team in safe hands too.”
Doctor Rolf Gomes, founder of Heart of
Australia, says he is proud and delighted to
announce the new direct assistance partnership
with Bridgestone Australia to support the
program’s lifesaving work.
“Bridgestone joins our family of partners
backing our work and helping us to ensure our
mobile clinic and support crews travel safely and
reliably in rural areas across Queensland,” he
says.
“We are excited about our collaboration and
look forward to an enduring partnership.”
