Ghostly gondolier
EDITOR’S COMMENT
It’s always a challenge to bring a new
angle to something we’ve seen plenty
of times before – and it’s for exactly
this reason Peter Morton’s photo of
gondoliers in Venice is so interesting.
Using a long exposure has helped bring
a dreamlike feel to the Italian city – we
know it’s Venice, but it seems to be
closer to a surrealist painting of the
iconic city. We really like how the white
stern light of the gondola takes a jagged
light trail through the image – It helps us
imagine the oar strokes that would have
caused the waviness. Great work Peter.

TITLE
Bogen village
EDITORS COMMENT
Alan Boyd writes that he was staying
in the Norwegian village of Bogen
when he took this great postcard shot.
“It was about minus-five degrees
outside with some extra windchill on
top. I love how sharp and crisp the
image is.” he says. We do too. Blue
and gold is a stellar combination and
there’s a lovely feel of warmth in the
photo from the houses. We like the
timelessness of the church at the top
looking over the town – it’s straight out
of a Hans Christian Anderson fable.
