Many people like all-white, grey or
greige (grey/beige) spaces they can
brighten to taste with coloured accessories;
others might commit to a dramatic colour
on all four walls with tonal accents. There
are no rules to choosing colour, but some
combinations mean you may have to try
harder to make them work. According to
Dulux colour expert Andrea Lucena-Orr, “It
feels easier to use ‘feature’ colour in places
such as bedrooms because they’re used by
only one or two people and can be exactly
what they want.” Powder rooms are another
space that can take a strong feature
colour. In living rooms, accent colour can
be added onto dado rails, picture rails and
other architectural details. In the kitchen,
try a coloured splashback or cabinetry. A
