inter. It’s too cold to run to
the bottle shop for a shiraz,
let alone run 10 kilometres.
And with everyone moving their work-
out indoors, the gym is becoming
more crowded than an Adele concert.
But don’t shelve your fitness goals
till September just because the weather
isn’t exercise-friendly. Websites and
apps delivering fitness programs you
can do at home are more popular
than ever; think, a personal trainer in
your living room. marie claire staffers
tested three of the best and reported
back – sweaty, but a little more svelte.

TEGAN HAINING’S
7 DAY QUICKIE
teganhaining.com, $47
TESTED BY: KATHRYN MADDEN,
HEAD OF SUB-EDITING

A former trainer at London’s Bodyism,
Tegan Haining has sculpted David Beckham
and Jess Gomes. Her “7 Day Quickie”
promises to put you on a fast-track to fitness.
Kathryn says: “The program comprised daily
20-minute workouts demo’d by Tegan via
YouTube; think jumping jacks, lunges and
oblique twists. Her eating plan served up
smart meal-prep tips and my mood and
energy skyrocketed. I’m not sure my body was
pushed to the max, but at least I swapped out
my nightly pinot for push-ups and planking.”

BARRE BODY ONLINE
barrebody.com.au/online, $15 for the first month (then $25/month)
TESTED BY: JANA POKORNY, FASHION DIRECTOR

Want a ballerina body, stat? Barre Body Online boasts more than 100
videos across six programs, featuring everything from quick two-week
tone-ups to a prenatal plan. Jana says: “I did ballet quite a bit as a child,
so thankfully I felt comfortable with the moves in the programs. It’s like
a cross between yoga and Pilates, is easy to follow, and it’s a decent
(and safe!) workout that I could fit into my schedule.
But exercising by yourself can be a little uninspiring –
the energy of group classes is always more motivating.
While I won’t be auditioning for the Bolshoi any time
in the near future, I definitely gained more core strength,
which is key to keeping my
weak lower back in check.”

SWEAT WITH KAYLA
kaylaitsines.com, from $4.61/week
TESTED BY: HANNA MARTON,
WELLNESS EDITOR

Kayla Itsines is a one-woman fitness
revolution, with a massive 6.6 million
Insta fans. This app is the all-in-one
mobile version of her best-selling Bikini
Body Guide e-book. Hanna says: “The
tailored 12-week plan mixes 28-minute
workouts of cardio, resistance or
stretches, depending on the day,
plus recipes. I haven’t been this
challenged since giving
birth! It’s not for the faint-
hearted, but ‘Sweat With
Kayla’ is a super-efficient
way to a hot bod.”
