ON THE MAP:CORNWALL TO
SCOTLAND
GROUND COVERED:
KM
This iconic route, which traverses the length
of the UK from southwest to northeast, is not
for the fainthearted. ‘End to Enders’ (the name
given to LeJoG cyclists) start at either point
- Land’s End in Cornwall, England, or John
O’Groats in Scotland – and cycle a helluva
lot of Ks to the other one, averaging around
110-145 kilometres a day. Map-reading skills
are a must, but if you’re not a super-confi dent
navigator, cycle tour companies (such as
bikeadventures.co.uk) o er supported LeJoG
trips. The Cornish hills are tough, but the
incredible sights – including lakes, lochs and
mountains – are seriously unforgettable.

Talk to locals: Utilise the owners of
B&Bs and fellow cyclists for route advice.
Pack (really) light:’Cause you’ll regret
lugging that extra pair of shoes when you’ve
clocked 800km and are cycling up a mountain.
Wear waterproof: It rains A LOT in the
UK. Even if it’s not the most streamlined or
breathable jacket, if it’s waterproof, you
won’t be sad that you’ve got it.
