a powerful role in bringing ideas and people together to make a diference. We’re focused on serving the community and the national interest in

(Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience) and Starlight Children’s Foundation, we are maintaining our focus on youth in hardship.

Lending a Hand
Virgin Australia cabin crew help Foodbank feed the hungry in Melbourne.

In some areas of Vanuatu, nearly 75 per cent of
girls are missing more than a month of learning per
year because they don’ t have access to sanitary
pads and still share school toilets with boys.
CARE Australia is launching a crowdfunding
campaign to provide reusable pads and hygiene
education, and to ensure there are school toilets
for girls. CARE has already provided more than
340 girls in Vanuatu with sanitary kits — another
$41,000 can help 560 more girls stay in school all
year. Virgin Australia has been a proud sponsor of
CARE Australia since 2015. To learn more, or to

P

roudly supported by Virgin Australia since 2010, Foodbank is the
largest hunger-relief organisation in Australia. First established in
1992 in NSW, this not-for-profit acts as a pantry for charities and
community groups feeding the hungry. Foodbank provided enough food
for more than 63 million meals in 2016, and now has distribution centres
operating in all state capitals, as well as a number of regional centres.
In Victoria alone, Foodbank sources and distributes food to more than
134,000 Victorians who rely on food assistance each month. Nationally, the
organisation employs 120 staf members and more than 3000 volunteers
— including Virgin Australia cabin crew in Melbourne who help to pack
orders that are distributed to more than 400 partner welfare agencies.
