I came out of it I felt like it was one of
the most wonderful experiences I’d ever
had because it was so hard. I had put a
lot of pressure on myself because I love
ballet and I wanted it to be perfect. When
something is really challenging, it’s always
the most rewarding.
TARA HAS TO PUT UP WITH
SOME VERY HARSH CRITICISM
BOTH FOR HER WRITING AND HER
DANCING. HOW DO YOU HANDLE
CRITICISM IN YOUR LIFE?
When I was very young my ballet
teacher took me aside and said, “If I’m
not correcting you it’s because I’m not
bothered”, so I learnt that it’s a good thing.
If someone is giving you criticism it’s
because they care enough and believe in
your ability to be better. It can still be very
hard though.
TARA ALSO HAS TO WATCH ALL HER
FRIENDS LIVING THEIR DREAM
WHILE SHE DOESN’T HAVE HERS.
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE
FOR PEOPLE WHO MIGHT BE
EXPERIENCING THAT?
I think a lot of the time we see what we
want to see and it’s dependent on how we’re
feeling at the time. What we’re seeing,
particularly with social media, isn’t always
the truth. Things don’t come to everyone
at the same time and things don’t come
without hard work. That hard work might
be for six months, one year or 10 years,
but if you’re working hard and following
something then you have no reason to be
unhappy. You don’t just get your dream
handed to you; you have to work for it.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE
DANCE FILM?
Strictly Ballroom, it’s a fantastic film.
I just love Tara Morice with all of my heart.
That film is the reason I started dancing,
but Mum put me into ballet, not ballroom
dancing and I still have a thing about that!
Things don’t come without hard
work. That might be for six months,
one year or 10 years, You don’t just get
your dream handed to you; you have
to work for it...
