9/ Pre-empt
and prepare
Always have posts lined up!
Whether it’s your next how-
to video or a travel picture,
being prepared with posts
means you’ll never miss high-
engagement times and can
post when you might be too
busy to post in real time.
Don’t sweat about posting
throwbacks, but don’t make
it obvious either – #TBT is
so 2016. If you’ve got a shot
of a beach or of a gorgeous
round of drinks, noone needs
to know you’re not actually
there; just post it. Just keep
it realistic – no point posting
a sunset in the morning.
‘I definitely plan my posts
at least a couple of weeks in
advance, but if I’m super
excited to post something then
I’ll normally shuffle around
my posts to make sure every-
thing still looks cohesive. By
planning my posts it gives me
peace of mind that I won’t be
scrambling at the last minute
with nothing to upload.’

As your audience grows, you’re hopefully going to
get the attention of advertisers and public relations
teams. Be careful, read their contracts and know your
worth. If you’re a food blogger posting about detox
tea or a health guru posting about a new line of Pepsi,
you’re going to lose follower faith. Keep your paid or
sponsored posts balanced, on brand and don’t be
afraid to advertise – making money from your
creativity and passion is #lifegoals.
‘There are a lot of
companies that will take
advantage of influencers
given the chance, but an
agency knows what you’re
entitled to and ensures [you
get] nothing less. They have
also landed me some of my
biggest campaigns, ones
that would’ve been beyond
my reach on my own.’

‘I take a lot of
responsibility in the
fact that I influence a lot
of people so I’ve always
wanted to make sure that
no matter the dollar sign,
I will not post it if I don’t
genuinely use it or like it.’

10/ Love
what you do
Sharing your passion and
creativity online should be
enjoyable and you should
always feel safe. Don’t engage
with online haters and trolls
and don’t feel obligated to
share personal information.
This should be a side hustle
that propels you to your
dream job/situation so keep
your eyes on the prize and
always make the most out of
your relationship with your
(hopefully many) followers.
‘The best part of having an
audience is being able to help.
We love supporting small
busineses; they should never
have to pay for posts. A lot of
them put all their earnings into
their work and we love giving
them the opportunity of exposure,
and getting to know them.’
