The secret to smashing your next
workout isn’t an epic playlist, energy-
packed protein bar or a pair of shiny
new kicks. According to researchers
from the UK and the US (aka, our
new heroes), the key ingredient for
a next-level workout is swearing. Yup,
if you want to feel stronger, you’d
better start practising your French.
Seriously. During their study, the
pros compared the strength and pain
tolerance of a group of volunteers both
before and after they said some cuss
words. Surprisingly (or unsurprisingly,
depending on your past experience),
the volunteers showed a signifi cant
increase in their ability to power
through a sweat sesh after letting out
some expletives. It’s not like we needed
an excuse to let burpees know how we
really feel about them, but now that
science is behind us, there’s something
we’ve been meaning to say...
