17 Roll out two 5g pieces of green
adjusted paste to create elongated
cones. Open the wider ends of
each slightly with a cone tool, these
will become the sleeves.

18 Mark a couple of creases where
the elbow joint would be and then
attach the sleeves to the body
with edible glue so that the point
of each arm is slightly above the
marked line.

19 Roll several long tapered
pieces of white adjusted paste and
curl them slightly. Using a little
edible glue attach these to form
the beard. The top edge of the
beard should be slightly above the
marked line.

20 Roll a small teardrop of adjusted
paste for the nose, this can either
be pale pink or flesh coloured.
Attach it to the top edge of the
beard using a little edible glue.

21 Using 20g of green adjusted
paste, roll an elongated cone of
paste for the hat, tapering the
end to a fine point. Using a cone
tool, hollow the base of the cone
to fit over the top of the body.
The brim can be as wide or thin as
you choose, this will add further
character to your final gnome.

22 Using a little edible glue attach
the hat over the top of the arms,
beard and nose. Carefully shape
the brim and point of the hat to
compliment your gnome character.
Don't forget to give him enough
space to see out from under the
brim of the hat.

Ceri’s Top Tip
Sometimes gnomes go undercover as wizards, druids,
occasionally even Santa! It doesn't take much, just add a sta
or wand. Even a change of colour can turn him into many
other characters and try making him dierent sizes
for perspective.

24 Using a little edible glue, slip
the mittens up into the hollowed
sleeves and then attach them to the
body with a little more edible glue.

23 Roll two small teardrops of
brown adjusted paste, flatten them
slightly and then cut a ‘V’ shape out
of each to create a thumb.Trim the
thumbs down slightly in length and
then use your finger tips to round
off any squared edges and shape
his mittens.

25 Using double-sided tape, attach
satin ribbon around the edge of
the cake board to dress it. Once
complete, the gnomes can be
attached to the tiers with a little
edible glue or left unstuck as the
recipient may wish to adopt them.

Ceri’s Top Tip
If you want your gnome to
look cold you can always
dust the end of his nose
with red or blue dust food
colour. If you wish him to
appear really cold add a
few icicles made in the
same fashion as the beard
but without the curl.
