T

his month we take a look at three

tools from the Shesto Modelcraft

range that will be really useful to

add to your modelling tool box. These are

sprue cutters, the mouldline removing tool

and the double ended pick and place tool.

Modelcraft PPL6704 Flush Cutter

A decent pair of lush cutting sprue cutters are

an essential in any modelling tool box and this

pair from the Shesto Modelcraft range are an

ideal pair. As well as cutting sprue they can be

used for etched brass and thin wire, although

for brass rod you will need a diferent pair of

nippers to avoid damaging your lush cutters!

Modelcraft PSP1000

Mouldline Remover

This mould line cleaning tool is an essential

addition to the modeller’s toolbox. The stainless-

steel edge complete with ergonomic handle

makes easy work of smoothing away unwanted

sprue or mould lines without damaging the

models surface. Can be used on plastic model

sprues, and metal wargaming miniatures.

Since discovering this it has become one of

most used tools after my modelling knife, I

really don’t know how I got on without it!

Modelcraft PTW1135 Pick &

Place Double Ended Tool

This tool from Shesto is an updated version of

an old favourite, the ‘Pick and place’ tool. This

new version is double ended and features small

and large sticky silicone tips, meaning you

only need one tool, not two.

The silicone tips are absolutely ideal for

picking up and placing photo-etched parts,

without them sticking to your ingers or indeed

tweezers! The two diferent sizes mean that

larger photo-etch parts or even small plastic

parts can be lifted and placed with ease.
