Julie says, “There is lots of hands on
collaboration, learning, networking,
photography, socialising and great fun. Most
attendees love it so much they come back the
next year, having made a whole new set of
friends.”
There are men directly involved and Michael
Marlborough has attended all the Refocus
Retreats to date. He not only brings amazing
equipment from Kayell for the attendees to try
out, but also runs some workshops on the use
of lights and other equipment.
Michael says, “My opinion is that Refocus
Retreat is an amazing event and I want to help
out as much as I can.”
Again Carla Gottgens speaks on the value in
an all female retreat.
“The Refocus Retreat is a safe haven, but it
also opens windows here and there. It givesattendees a glimpse that there are still issues
that need to be addressed and that the women
who are at the retreat, whether as attendees
or presenters, all have their own very special
stories on how they have dealt with the not so
pleasant aspects of our profession.

show inner strength that perhaps wouldn’t be
