Nonproliferation and Arms Control Issues, theResearch and Development
Cooperation Agreement for the Use of Nuclear Power between China and the
European Atomic Energy Community, theRenewal Agreement for The Scientific
and Technological Cooperation Agreement between China and the European
Community, theChina-EU Customs Cooperation Agreement, theResearch and
Development Cooperation Agreement for Peaceful Use of Nuclear Power, the
China-EU Social Security Reform Programand theFiscal Agreement for Four
China-EU Cooperation Projects, etc.

Balkenende. The two sides signed many bilateral cooperation documents.
December 9: Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao attended the EU-China Business
Summit in The Hague, Netherlands, and delivered a speech there.

January 11: Portuguese President Jorge Fernando Branco de Sampaio kicked off
a six-day State visit to China. The two sides released a joint press communiqué
and signed seven bilateral cooperation agreements, including theCooperation
Agreement between the Supreme People's Court of the People’s Republic of
China and the Supreme Administrative Court of the Republic of Portugal, and
the Economic Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the People’s
Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Portugal, etc.
April 18: China and France signed the Agreement for Criminal Judicial
Assistance between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the
Government of the Republic of Francein Paris.
April 21: French Prime Minister Raffarin kicked off a three-day official visit to
China. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Prime Minister Raffarin held talks and
attended the signing ceremony for 20 bilateral cooperation agreements covering
agriculture, aviation, energy, etc.
April 27: Chairman of China’s NPC Standing Committee Wu Bangguo held
talks with the visiting President of the German Federal Parliament (Bundestag),
Wolfgang Thierse; the two sides released a joint declaration. A regular exchange
mechanism between China’s NPC and the German Federal Parliament
(Bundestag) was officially launched.
May 6: Chairman of China’s NPC Standing Committee, Wu Bangguo, and Chinese
Premier Wen Jiabao exchanged congratulatory messages with the President of the
European Parliament, Josep Borrell Fontelles, Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker,
the Prime Minister of Luxembourg—the rotating EU presidency, the President of
