I’m an avid on-the-spot sketcher,
and have my own small collection of
sketchbooks, but mine don’t come
anywhere close to this lovingly presented
collection of well set-out and illustrated
books, holding page after page of
memories and places visited, all compiled
by a very talented artist.
I was told by well-known Australian
artist Malcolm Carver that I should leave
my own sketchbooks in my will to my
grandchildren, and with the 13 books on
display in Beni’s studio, all having 40 or
50 pages with both sides of each page
worked on, that’s more than a thousand
illustrations, all with her accompanying
thoughts and location comments, so I
hope she has considered doing the same,
especially as her own grandkids often visit
and help out in her studio.
