Boat International — January 2018

As allsuperyachtownersknow,thereisanart
to travelling in style which requires a lot of hard
work andplanning–nomatterhoweffortlessit
may look. The same goes for flying: when
pondering whether to buy a private plane or to
charter, there are many questions to ask and

Arlidge tussles with the business of flying (see
page 65)andToryKingdonlooksattheinnovative
new materials designers are utilising in plane
interiors (page 80). We continue the jet-set
theme with our fashion shoot, which showcases
the key new pieces to keep the busiest
globetrotters looking suitably suave. And as it’s
holiday season, many of you will be entertaining
on board, so we asked Debra Reuben, boat
owner and hostess of impeccable taste and style,
to give your superyacht guests a helping hand.
Her definitive guide to how to behave on board

”Build me a beast!” Those words have almost
become legend in the superyachting industry.
A beast is what the owner wanted, and that is
exactly what he got. Albeit a very beautiful one.
Marilyn Mower writes in her world exclusive
feature on page 122 that there were gasps when
the model for Ngoni was unveiled at the Monaco
Yacht Show in 2014. It’s true – I was there. The
model was also displayed at the World
Superyacht Awards in Amsterdam in 2015, where
it had a constant gaggle of admirers (and a very
proud Ed Dubois standing nearby). The designer’s
last boat is a stunner, to be sure, and a fitting
legacy for such a remarkable career. A little bit
before Ngoni you’ll find the Top 101. In 2016, there
were four new entries into the list of the world’s
biggest boats. In 2017, there were 10. I’m not
saying it’s time to pop the champagne, but things
are looking pretty healthy right now. Don’t believe
me? Take a look at the Global Order Book – your
definitive guide to the state of superyachting.
