over the country and have met together only a few times—
you obviously have to use a lot of discernment when building
online friendships and sharing personal information.
I have experienced such encouragement and blessing
from online friendships. I’ve also heard powerful stories
of how our Hello Mornings groups have offered just the
support and encouragement others have needed in a time
of isolation in their day- to- day world.

Ways to Stay Connected
However you choose to gather your group, you can stay
connected in many different ways. Most groups I’ve been a
part of have used each of the following ideas to some extent:

  • Meet in person
If you have the time and space, a weekly meeting can
be a wonderful way to build community. Some churches
that do Hello Mornings meet regularly, and they’ve
said it’s the most powerful ministry happening in their
churches. I’ve also been a part of a long- distance Hello
Mornings group, and while our main connection point is
online, it was very bonding to plan a one- time gathering.

  • Apps
Many apps allow you to leave text or voice messages
for one person or a group. You can listen while someone
is leaving a message, or you can wait and listen later.
This is perfect for friends with different schedules or
in different time zones. You can still talk and hear one
another’s voices, but you don’t have to schedule to all be
    on at the same time.
