Playing tag
This robin is enjoying a nice day off
before the snow falls – or maybe he’s
enjoying himself before starting his
work modelling for Christmas cards!
He fits nicely into the luggage tag that
came with issue 258 , but he might need
a final tweak. Perhaps I’ll add a piece of
coloured card behind him or stitch him
again onto a larger piece of fabric.
Alison Kent, Eastbourne
Lou says: It’s always a joy to see what
you’ve stitched, Alison. We love your
robin tag just as it is, but we can’t
wait to see whether
you decide to add
some card behind
the stitching or
change the
fabric. Happy
stitching!

Food for thought
I loved the food alphabet and numbers set from a recent
magazine, issue 259 – so much so that I’ve started
making the letters into fridge magnets for all my family!
Gemma McMahon, Matson
Alison says: These are so cool, Gemma! This was just
the sort of thing I imagined this alphabet being made up
into back when I commissioned it. If you’re looking for
another great use for these letters, they’d also make fun
bunting if you patched them onto paper triangles and
strung them all together in a row. Enjoy!

For Margaret
I was sorry to learn the news about
Margaret Sherr y in issue 260. Not
being a social media user, I was
unaware of her passing before reading
the article and it was really sad to
learn that such a talented lady was
gone. I’m a stitcher and an aspiring
illustrator, meaning I have double the
reasons to love her designs. A few
years ago, I wrote to Margaret, asking
for her advice about illustrations. She
kindly replied to my questions and
it has helped me in overcoming my
beginner’s shyness. In memor y of
Margaret Sherr y, I would like to share
a photo of a design she created which
has been turned into a welcome sign
for my flat. I hope you like it.
Laurence Minaire, France
Emily says: It’s wonderful that you and
Margaret had that correspondence.
I’m sure she would have loved your
welcome sign just as much as we do.

Respect the chef!
I wanted to show you my latest completed project.
I just need to put it in a frame and then it can be hung
up in my home. I’m quite pleased with the results and
I’m planning to display it on the kitchen wall.
Lorraine Pulfer, Gorleston
Katie says: My mum has a sign that’s ver y similar to
this hanging in her kitchen. I love designs that have
a sense of humour. I might stitch this, as well, for my
own home – I do enjoy taking a break from cooking!
