his ...is...not...happening!”
Sabrina moaned as searing pain
shot through her wrist. “Nothing
is going right today!” Balancing on
her one good hand as she strug-
gled to her knees, Sabrina
looked at the dark clouds
moving in overhead and
couldn’t help but laugh. “Of
course—a literal black cloud
over the worst Monday ever.”
It had all started when
she had overslept. Then, the
hot water turned ice-cold halfway
through her shower. She’d lost more time
searching for her keys, which had mysteri-
ously jumped from the counter into the
junk drawer. The slick stairs outside had
been the last straw. Sabrina had been hur-
rying out the door, slipped and put her
hand down to break the fall. She grunted
as she stood up, her left wrist throbbing.
Sending a quick text to her boss, Sabrina
drove, good hand steering the wheel, to
a nearby clinic, where a packed waiting
room full of cr ying babies awaited her.
“Sabrina Doyle?” The nurse finally
called, consulting a clipboard, scanning
the room. Sabrina jumped up and followed
her to an examining room. Vitals taken,
Sabrina breathed deeply until a doctor
entered to assess the damage.
“Looks like a bad sprain,” he said. “But
we’ll get an X-ray to make sure.”
Paperwork in hand, Sabrina ambled
over to the radiology waiting room, a single
glance at her personal medical informa-
tion a lmost bringing her to tears. Under
“Emergency contact” she had written James
Doyle, brother, with his Montana address.

Montana: six states away. “Great,”
Sabrina mumbled aloud, slumping in her
chair. “Single and injured with my only
family halfway across the country.”
“Can’t be as bad as all that,”
chimed a youngish man, his
arm in a sling across the
room. Sabrina hadn’t noticed
him before, but as she looked
up to meet his soulful gaze,
a shiver ran down her spine.
“Hopefully just a sprain,”
Sabrina replied, feeling heat rise
in her face as she hoped against hope
that he hadn’t really heard her rant.
“You’re gonna need an umbrella,” he
said, grinning, eyeing the ceiling playfully.
“I see a black cloud hovering over you.”
This is
your time!
Although every
day holds 1,440
minutes, we tend
to spend a lot of
them focused on
others. That can be
so important to do,
but it’s more than
okay to devote
some to you! In
fact, wonderful
things happen
when we let our
own wishes and
wants matter too:
