Get HomePod to
recognise your voice
W
hen the HomePod was updated
alongside iOS 13.2, it brought with it
multiuser support for the first time. A key
feature of this has been voice recognition, with Siri
able to work out who is talking before responding to
personal requests. This means that you can ask Siri
to send a message, call someone, send a reminder
or access your personal calendar.
For it to work, you’ll need to be logged into the
HomePod using the same Apple ID you use with
iCloud. You must also be added as a user in the
Home app that was used to set up the smart
speaker. From there it’s a matter of turning on
Bluetooth, Siri, Hey Siri, and Location Services (set
your location set to your device). You will then be
able to set up Voice Recognition within the Home
app as demonstrated here.
With multiuser support, HomePod can use Siri to distinguish
voices and deliver a much more personalised experience
