Speckled Piculet
Binomial Name: Picumnus innominatus
The Speckled Piculet is a rare resident bird of Bangladesh. Apart from the Sundarban inBangladesh, evergreen forests, moist deciduous and bamboo bushes can be seen in the Sylhet
division. They are more active in the morning and afternoon. They are typically seen alone or inpairs, but in the Sundarban, they can be found in groups with Gray-capped Pygmy Woodpeckers
and Velvet-fronted Nuthatch. It grabs the slender branches of the tree and gathers food aroundit. Ants, larvae, and pupae are their main food. Their breeding season is from January to April.
They lay their eggs in the holes of dead branches of forest bamboo or small trees and lay eggs.
