Removethestrutbrace,securedwithfour 10 mmbolts(twooneach
side),someofwhichcancorrodeandshearoff–applypenetrating
fluidfirst.Detachaclipontheundersideofthestrutbracethatholdsa
plasticbrakeservopipe

TheEGRvalveislocatedontheoffsideoftheengine.Detachaseriesof

electricalplugs,abreatherhoseandthenone8mmboltandtwo10mm

boltsforamountingbracketovertheEGRvalve.Interestingtonote,the

brackethasaCitroënlogostampedintoit

Withthevehicleonlevelground,releaseandraisethebonnet,then
removetheenginetopcover,whichisclippedintoposition.Oncereleased,
removeanyfoamsoundproofingthatmaybeleftontopoftheengine

Unclipandremovethefusebox’stopcovertoprovidealittleextraroom
forworkingaroundandremovingtheEGRvalveassembly.Nomoreof
thefuseboxcanberemoved

Removebothwindscreenwiperarmsbyundoingtheir 13 mmmounting

nuts.Detachthewindscreenwasherpipesfromthearmsbefore

carefullyreleasingeacharmfromwhereitisfitted

Toremovetheplastictrimoverthescuttlepanel,releaseeightplastic

trimplugsbypushingtheircentresinwithasmallscrewdriver,then

prisetheentirebodyoftheplugout(damagedoneswillneedrenewing)

Next,removethesmaller,morerigid,panelthatisoverthecentreof

thescuttlepanel.Releasetwotrimplugsfirst,thenmanoeuvreitout.It

canbequiteawkwardtoremove

Withthetrimplugsremoved,takeoffthecoverovertheentirescuttle
panel,detachingthewindscreenwasherpipeattachedtoit.Therubber
sealalongthebaseofthewindscreenmayremainattachedtothepanel
