hen opening Apple TV’s
Settings app, you’re
presented with many
different options, most of which help
tailor your experience to best suit
your needs. If you land in the right
places and press the right buttons,
however, you can also access
much more, thanks to two main
hidden menus that, even if you don’t
end up using what’s in them, are
nevertheless fun to explore.
The first allows you to activate the
Demo Mode typically seen running
on Apple TVs in a retail store. This
can be useful in locking down your
Apple TV since it disables many
settings, prevents the installation
of apps and even lets you restrict
video playback. The second is more
advanced and should be left alone
unless you’re feeling experimental.
Both are easily accessible. Accessing the secret menus in your Apple TV interface
provides access to a wide range of interesting options

Launch Settings app
If you want to access the settings for the
retail Demo Mode on your Apple TV, then
begin by opening the Settings app on your
Apple TV and select ‘General’ from the menu.

Press Play/Pause
On the General settings page, make sure
you have highlighted ‘About’ at the top of the
screen. Now press the Play/Pause button on
the Siri Remote four times in succession.

Activate Demo Mode
You should now see a hidden menu
called Retail Demo Configuration. There is only
one option on this screen: Demo Mode. It’s off
by default but simply select it to activate.
