default it will appear as a static
image. To change this, tap on
the crossed-out GIF button in
the bottom left-hand corner.

Ensure it works
Twitter will now
automatically convert the
Live Photo into a GIF. Check
that it looks good, write your
accompanying text and tweet it.

Posting Live Photos on Twitter has been problematic
for a while thanks to Twitter’s inability to display them
as anything other than static images. Thankfully, a new
feature has been recently introduced by Twitter that

allows you to turn your Live Photos into GIFs when
tweeting them. We’ll guide you through the process here
but it is all done with the tap of a button from within the
Twitter interface.

Having had to rely on other apps for this process in the
previous 12 versions of iOS, the option to edit videos in
Photos is a new iOS 13 addition, so make sure that you
are running this before getting started. Once done, tap

on a video in your Photos app to select it and then tap
on the ‘Edit’ option in the top-right corner. You will then
be presented with a range of options that we will go
through here.

I have heard that it’s possible to tweet Live Photos taken on an iPhone as GIFs in
Twitter... This sounds like fun – how can I do it? Rabs Jugdhaw

Before and after
After adding an effect,
check it by tapping the
video. It shows before and
after applying it. Spread
two fingers to zoom into
the video for a closer look.

I have heard that it is possible to edit your videos straight from
the iOS Photos app. How is this done? Milan Patel

Adjust levels
Swipe left and right over
these controls to select
one. Use them to adjust
the levels, like brightness,
contrast, colour saturation,
black point, sharpness
and so on.

Adjust the effect
Use this control below the
selected tool to adjust the
amount that is applied.
For example, slide it left
to reduce the sharpening
effect or right to increase it.
Try it with multiple tools.

Apply filters
Tap this icon to access a
collection of filters that can
be applied to the video.
They can be used as fun
special effects or to help
correct problems.
