FireKeepers Casino Hotel proudly

announces the selection of two talent-

ed golfers to fill sponsorship exemp-

tion spots for the upcoming 11th

annual FireKeepers Casino Hotel

Golf Championship.

This prestigious event, part of the

Epson Tour – Road to the LPGA,

will showcase world-class women

professional golfers at the Battle

Creek Country Club from Friday,

June 7 through Sunday, June 9.

Regional sports fans are encouraged

to enjoy the tournament in person

and bring the whole family, as there

is free admission all weekend –

although donations of non-perishable

food items are encouraged, as they

will go to the South Michigan Food

Bank.

The first exemption was awarded to

local talent Lauren Reed. A Harper

Creek High School graduate and

currently a junior at Adrian College,

Reed has demonstrated outstanding

leadership and skill both on and off

the golf course.

During her high school career, Reed
was first team all-conference, first
team all-region, first team All-State,
and was named golfer of the decade
at HCHS.
At Adrian College, Reed has con-
sistently excelled academically,
maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher
throughout her three years and earn-
ing a place on the Honor Roll.
Reed’s passion for golf stems from
her late grandfather, a Battle Creek
Country Club member, who instilled
in her a love for the game. Her dedi-
cation to honoring her grandfather’s
memory and representing her com-
munity is evident in her commitment
to excellence in her athletic and aca-
demic pursuits.
Gabby Lemieux was the other/sec-
ond second exemption.
Hailing from Caldwell, ID,
Lemieux’s journey into golf began at
the age of six.
However, it wasn’t until her high
school years, playing alongside her
sister, that she realized her passion

Harper Creek High grad Loren
Reed, now playing golf and
attending school at Adrian
College, is in the field for this
Friday’s through Sunday’s
11th annual FireKeepers Hotel
Casino Golf Championship that
will take place at Battle Creek
Country Club. Admission to
join the gallery is free of
charge, although donations of
non-perishable food items for
the South Michigan Food Bank
are highly encouraged. (Photo

for the sport.
Despite facing challenges during
her collegiate career at Texas Tech
University – where she earned four
collegiate wins, was named Big 12
Player of the Year, and achieved the

remarkable feat of ranking No. 1
in the country – Lemieux remained
dedicated to her dream of playing
professional golf.
As a Native American, she has
faced unique struggles in the golf
world, often finding herself without
role models who looked like her.
With mentorship from Notah Begay,
Lemieux has committed herself to
inspiring young Native Americans to
pursue golf.
Her mission from the start has been
to help kids, particularly those who
share her background, by providing
them with someone to look up to
and encouraging their participation
in the sport. Lemieux’s determina-
tion is firm as she continues to break
barriers and pave the way for future
generations.
“We are incredibly excited for
this year’s 11th annual FireKeepers
Casino Hotel Championship,” said
Jim Wise, VP of Marketing at
FireKeepers Casino.
“We are honored to grant exemp-
tions to such talented golfers, one
being a local standout and the other a
remarkable Native American athlete.
This representation is truly special.
The event promises to be spectacu-
lar, and we encourage all golf enthu-
siasts to come out, support these pro-
fessional women golfers, and enjoy a
fantastic tournament experience.”
The FireKeepers Casino Hotel
Championship this Friday through
Sunday at BCCC is part of the Epson
Tour – Road to the LPGA, the pre-
mier development tour for women
professional golfers, aimed at nurtur-
ing talent and providing a pathway to
the LPGA Tour.
The championship will feature 144
professional and amateur women
golfers, including the defending
champion Siyun Liu.
Competitors will vie for a share of
the $200,000 purse, with the first-
place winner taking home $30,000.
At season’s end, the top money
winners on the Epson Tour receive
their LPGA Tour cards for 2025.

ing first-round tee times for Friday,
