NOTICE OF SUBMISSION OF ORDINANCE

To: The residents and property owners of the Charter Township of Emmett, Calhoun County,
Michigan and any other interested persons.
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the following ordinance amending the Charter Township
of Emmett Zoning Ordinance was submitted to the Township Board of the Charter Township of
Emmett at its board meeting on July 11, 2024, and will be considered for adoption at the next regular
Township Board meeting to be held on August 8, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at the Charter Township of Em-
mett Township Hall, 621 Cliff Street, Battle Creek, MI 49014, within the Township. A summary of
the ordinance is as follows:
ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENTS
SECTION 1. Amendment to Section 3.09 of Appendix A (Zoning Ordinance) of the
Township’s Code of Ordinances. Section 3.09 of Appendix A (Zoning Ordinance) of the Charter
Township of Emmett Code of Ordinances is hereby amended by replacing the existing language of
Section 3.09 in its entirety to provide new Variance Standards and Conditions.
SECTION 2. SEVERABILITY OF INVALID PROVISIONS. If any section of this
Ordinance is declared to be invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that invalid section shall not
affect the validity of any other section of this Ordinance.
SECTION 3. REPEAL. All other ordinances, resolutions, orders or parts of ordinances
that are in conflict with this Ordinance are repealed to the extent necessary to give this Ordinance
full force and effect.
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall take effect eight (8) days after
publication after adoption.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the full text of the proposed Ordinance has
been posted on the Township’s website and is available for inspection by contacting the undersigned
during regular business hours of regular business days.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that Emmett Charter Township will provide nec-
essary, reasonable auxiliary aids and services to individuals with disabilities attending the meeting
upon notice to the Charter Township of Emmett Township Clerk of the need for the same.

The Battle Creek Battle Jacks of


the summer collegiate Northwoods


League will play their final two


games of the 2024 season at home


this Friday and Saturday when


they entertain the Traverse City Pit


Spitters at Bailey Park’s C.O. Brown


Stadium for a pair of games that both


have 6:35 p.m. starts.


The Battle Jacks, under field


manager Ben Harley, had an 11-19


second-half record as of games last


Sunday and were in sixth place in


the seven-team Great Lakes East


Division of the league.


Traverse City, meanwhile, had


a 19-12 second-half record head-
ing into play this past Monday, and
are contending with the Kalamazoo
Growlers for first place in the second
half.
The Rockford Rivets won the divi-
sion’s first-half title, while Battle
Creek was second with a record of
19-17.
The first-place finishers in the
season’s two halfs in the division
advance to playoffs that begin next
week.
Overall Great Lakes East stand-
ings heading into this past Monday:
1-Kalamazoo Growlers 19-11,
2-Traverse City Pit Spitters 19-12,
3-Rockford Rivets 17-13, 4-Royal

    The Battle Jacks’ roster at this point
    of the season has several fill-in play-
    ers, as many players who started the
    season and played most of the season
    in B.C. have returned to their col-
    leges and hometowns.
    One local player who joined the
    club late in the campaign and who is
    still with the team is Pennfield High
    graduate and Kellogg Community
    College standout this past spring
    Cody Hultink.
    In 15 games played since join-
    ing the Battle Jacks, Hultink – an
    infielder and outfielder who is headed
    to Davenport University for his next
    stop – was batting .333 with 17 total
    hits heading into this past Monday’s
    action.
    Aside from his .333 average,
    Hultink had four doubles, one triple,
    nine RBI and three stolen bases.
