On Feb.14, 1154, the New Year’s Day, the Dismissed Emperor was
unwell and did not hold a reception. The Southern Sung envoys, who
had received their orders on Oct.21, 1153, stayed in their lodge. On
the same day, a Master of Writing of the Ministry of Households and
other Chin envoys congratulated at the Southern Sung court. They
had received their orders on Nov.28, 1153, and arrived on Feb.10,
1154 (Sung shih 31:2b; Chin shih 5:10b, 11a).
On Mar.1, 1154, Southern Sung envoys to the Chin court congratu-
lated on the birthday of the Dismissed Emperor. They had received
their orders on Oct.21, 1153 (Sung shih 31:2a; Chin shih 5:11a).
On July 1, 1154, Chin envoys arrived at the Southern Sung court
to congratulate on the birthday of Kao-tsung^23 (Sung shih 31:3a).
On Feb.4, 1155, the New Year’s Day, Sung envoys congratulated
at the Chin court. They had received their orders on Nov.15, 1154.
On the same day, Chin envoys congratulated at the Southern Sung
court. They had received their orders on Jan.31 (Sung shih 31:4a, 4b;
Chin shih 5:12a).
On Feb.19, 1155, Southern Sung envoys to the Chin court congratu-
lated on the birthday of the Dismissed Emperor. They had received
their orders on Nov.15, 1154 (Sung shih 31:4a; Chin shih 5:12a).
On Apr.5, 1155, a Gentleman-of-the-Palace of the Right Office
returned to the Southern Sung court from a mission to Chin. He
was sentenced to dismissal for having been disrespectful in his duty
(Sung shih 31:5a).
On June 20, 1155, Chin envoys arrived at the Southern Sung court
to congratulate on the birthday of Kao-tsung.^24 They had received
their orders on Apr.26 (Sung shih 31:5a; Chin shih 5:12b).
On Jan.24, 1156, the New Year’s Day, Sung envoys congratulated
at the Chin court. They had received their orders on Nov.4, 1155. On
the same day, Chin envoys congratulated at the Southern Sung court.
They had arrived on Jan.20 (Sung shih 31:6a, 7b; Chin shih 5:14a).
On Feb.8, 1156, Southern Sung envoys to the Chin court congratu-
lated on the birthday of the Dismissed Emperor (Chin shih 5:14a).
On May 10, 1156, Kao-tsung sent envoys to the Chin court to
on June 13. Sung shih dates the arrival of the Chin envoys June 16, which is, of
course, impossible. 23
