as amended by the Warrant dated 21st August, 1939, shall be cancelled and annulled and
the following substituted therefore:-
(4) Officers, Warrant Officers, Non Commissioned Officers and other Airmen serving in
Our Air Force, Our Air Force Reserve, Our Auxiliary Air Force, Our Indian Air Force, or the
Air Forces of Our Dominions, Colonies, Dependencies or Protectorates;
AND WE DO FURTHER ordain and appoint that the Eleventh Clause as ordained in the
Warrant dated 9th May, 1938, shall be cancelled and annulled, and the following substituted
therefore:-
Eleventhly:Every Indian Officer of Our Indian Army and Burman Officer of Our Burma
Army of rank junior to that of Second-Lieutenant and every Indian Officer of Our Indian Air
Force of rank junior to that of Pilot Officer who shall have received the Cross shall, from the
date of the act by which such Decoration has been gained, be entitled to a special pension
of five hundred. and twenty-five rupees a year, and each additional Bar conferred on such
Indian Officer or Burman Officer shall carry with it an additional pension of one hundred
and fifty rupees a year. In the case of a Warrant or Non-Commissioned Officer or soldier of
Our Indian Army, Our Indian Air Force or Burma Army aforesaid We ordain and award a
special pension of one hundred and fifty rupees a year, with seventy-five rupees additional
for each additional bar. On the death of a recipient of the Cross to whom this clause applies
the pension shall be continued to his widow until her death or remarriage.
Given at Our Court at St. James’s this 25th day of January, 1941, in the 5th Year of Our
Reign.

XIV AMENDING WARRANT: HOME GUARD AND
WOMEN’S SERVICES, DOMINION SUBMISSIONS,
AND EXTENSION OF PENSION BENEFITS TO
NATIVE TROOPS, 31 DECEMBER 1942
GEORGE THE SIXTH, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain, Ireland, and the British Dominions
beyond the Seas, King, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India, to all to whom these Presents
shall come, Greeting!
WHEREAS His late Majesty King George V, by a Warrant under his Sign Manual, dated
5th February, 1931, was pleased to make, ordain and establish rules and ordinances for
the governance of the Decoration of the Victoria Cross, reserving to Himself His Heirs
and Successors full power of annulling, altering, abrogating, augmenting, interpreting or
dispensing with those rules and ordinances, or any part thereof, by a notification under
Royal Sign Manual;
AND WHEREAS WE are desirous that persons of any rank in Our Home Guard and
any lawfully constituted force corresponding thereto shall be eligible for the award of the
Decoration; that the position of Our Women’s Auxiliary Services in the matter shall be
regularized; that provision shall be made for direct submission to Us in the case of any of
Our Dominions, the Government whereof shall so desire; and that eligibility for monetary
awards shall be extended to all Our Indian and Burma Forces within the limits of rank to be
laid down;
