The translation especially translation of a video from one language to another, requires
many abilities from the translator. However, it is not easy to translate something like video
or text or a conversation from one language to another. Especially, the translation of the
meanings and the ideas, not only the translation of written or spoken words, but the final
product must have the same meaning from the source language.
The difficulties that I encountered are. Firstly, the translation and subtitling the video,
which is translated from English into Arabic. The challenge that I encountered about the
video was the American accent. American English has the more economical and phonetic
spelling. Unnecessary letters are left out and words are spelled how they sound. The dealing
and putting the subtitles on the video with the suitable translation that convey all the
meaning and thoughts from the source language. In other words, this video is talking about
the subject of “the emotion that lead to deception”, a topic, which requires from the
translator a pre-knowledge about it, that his translation could convey all thoughts and ideas.
However, the American English accent has its Phonological Characteristics. Thus, I had
some difficulties to recognize and understand some words. That are spoken with omitted
letters and others words used with assimilation of sound. Therefore, it is also sometimes
difficult to recognize and understand the spoken word because it is looks like words are
emerged with each other due to fast speaking.
Moreover, the finding of the appropriate materials, like software to deal with subtitles and
burn it on the video, even there are many. Secondly, the GSL, the big issue about it is
difficult to organize it in a list. Especially, the source from where that it provided by the
professor. It took too much time to finish it only in an organized way, and after a little bit
more time to translate it. Thirdly, the process of the collection of data, and organize it. The
way to put all works together in one research paper.
