  1. In the Layers palette click on the Create a new layer icon. Set the blending mode of this layer
    to Soft Light. With the Gradient Tool still selected choose black as your foreground color in the
    Tools palette and from the Options bar choose the Foreground to Transparent option and that the
    Transparency box is checked. Drag a gradient from a short distance above the horizon line to a
    short distance below the horizon line. This will increase the contrast of the sky and increase the
    color saturation slightly.


Note > The Soft Light bend mode belongs to the ‘Contrast’ family of blend modes. This
blend mode is not as aggressive as the Overlay blend mode that is the most popular blend
mode in this grouping.
