Getting SP on to the Treadmill
„ Instructs SP to straddle belt near front, holding onto front rail
„ Presses START BELT on treadmill controller
„ Instructs SP to step on belt and begin walking (big steps, eyes ahead,
stand up straight)


Starting the Treadmill Test
„ Presses START on ISIS screen and press START COURSE on
treadmill controller at the same time
„ Encourages SP to let go of front rail one hand at a time
„ A light touch with fingertips is OK, but no gripping rail
„ If SP continues to grip front rail by end of warm-up, press GO TO
RECOVERY on ISIS screen, press NEXT STAGE on treadmill
controller so that recovery stage is displayed


Explanation of RPE
„ Reads script quickly and clearly when prompted by ISIS


Obtaining RPE – Warm Up
„ Asks SP for RPE at 1:30 of warm-up following auditory prompt from
ISIS
„ Enters RPE correctly into system
