French Bronze Figure of Aphrodite
Eutrope Bouret (French 1833-1906)
The classical female cast scantily dressed in a classi-
cal robe, her shoulders bare, posed with her torso
bent, her arms pulling a link chain, posing in con-
traposto atop a dolphin, the square plinth base,
raised on a conforming slate base, the base inscribed
Bouret.
Height inches 18 1/2 inches (46.9 cm)

Babies
Gustave- Joseph Cheret (France 1838-1894)
Circa 1882
The ovoid form cast with multiple figures of amorini
holding on to twin branch form handles, with twin
figures of frogs, inscribed “Joseph Cheret”, foundry mark
inscribed to foot “E. Soleau Edit. Paris”, overall warm
brown patination, fitted with a metal liner.
Height 14 1/2 inches (36.8 cm).
This piece was displayed as a lamp base in the
Electrical Section of the 1882 Paris Exhibition. Harold
Berman, Bronzes, Sculptors and Founders 1800-1930.

Marius-Jean-Antonie Mercie (French 1795-1875)
The winged female figure symbolic of Victory, wear-
ing a gilt armour vest, holding up a prostate nude
young male warrior, grapsing his broken sword,
inscribed on side of base “Gloria Victis”, A. Mercie, F.
Barbedienne Foundry, with a fine mellow chocolate
brown patina.

The young blond beauty, modeled wearing an elabo-
rate pink extruded bonnet with a border of green
pendant fleur de lis, completed with a mauve bow
and twin green saucy feathers, an elaborate lacy ruf-
fle covering her neck, over a striking blue green bod-
ice with gilt highlights, Stellmacher Teplitz stamp mark,
raised monogram “ESCO” 586, incised signature to back
of bust.
