Thyroid-stimulatinghormone is used fordiagnostic testing.Stimulates normalsecretion of thyroidhormone.
Adverse reactions rare. Inpeople, allergic reactionshave occurred.
For Thytropar: to preparesolution, add 2 mL NaCIto 10 U vial. Reconstitutedsolutions retain potencyfor 2 weeks at 2–8
◦C.
Consult testing laboratoryfor specific guidelines forthyroid testing. ForThyrogen: reconstitute vialwith 6 mL sterile water.
Old forms(Thytropar) aredifficult to obtain.Human recombinantform (rh TSH)(Thyrogen) contains1.1 mg/vial.
Dog: collect baselinesample, followed by0.1 U/kg IV (maximumdose is 5 U); collectpost-TSH sample at 6h.For human recombinantform: 50–100
μg per dog.
Ticarcillin + clavulanate(Timentin)
