AUSTRALIAN SAILING (^) + YACHTING

SKATE AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP
The Australian Championship was
hosted by the Cruising Yacht Club
of W.A. at Rockingham on the
Cockburn Sound. 19 boats competed
in the series that was won by father
and son combination Brett and
Cameron Fannon sailing Ta s t y F i s h.
Cockburn Sound proved a fantastic
piece of water, breezy but flat
and allowed Skates to reach
maximum speeds.
AUSTRALIA HARTLEY TS16 CHAMPIONSHIP
The 50th Australian TS16
championship was hosted by
Williamstown Sailing Club on Port
Phillip Bay. Crews representing NSW,
SA and the host state Victoria competed
in light to moderate winds after blow
outs on the first three days. After six
races the regatta was won by one point
by defending champion Sinister sailed
by brothers Paul and Andrew Foster
from Saratoga SC, NSW.
SHARPIE NATIONAL
CHAMPIONSHIP
Sharpie veteran Mal Higgins has re-written
the history books claiming his seventh
sharpie national title after a resounding
win on the waters of Botany Bay over the
New year period. The racing itself under the
watchful eye of PRO Andrew McLachlan was
testing in moderate conditions, however it
provided extremely close racing especially for
the Womens, Junior and Country divisions
within the open championship.
AUSTRALIAN
O'PEN CUP
The 2015 O'pen Cup held at
Sandringham Yacht Club is being
called the class' regatta of the
year. With four different nations
making the trip and 83 entries
this event will remain forever in
the memories of the young sailors
who took part. Melbourne's
weather lived up to it's reputation and sent something different everyday.
This, however, made for nothing less than spectacular racing and a perfect
opportunity for the the fleet to showcase their skills.
