MY MEASUREMENTS ARE...
During the competition for the title of Miss Peru 2018,
instead of revealing their hip, waist and bust measurements
on stage, each of the 23 contestants shared the shocking
statistics of violence against women in Peru. The participants
wanted the focus to be on the women of their nation rather
than themselves. They have been applauded for raising
awareness of a crisis plaguing the South American country,
and their stand trended on social media under the hashtag
#mismedidasson (‘my measurements are’).Peggy Whitson is no stranger to breaking records. In fact, it’s something she’s rather good at. She is not only the first woman
to command the International Space Station, she is also the woman with the most space walks, and now, the first person
in US history – man or woman – to be in space for a whopping cumulative 665 days. Her journey to the stars has been
a long one. It took 10 years and countless applications for her to be accepted into the astronaut programme.PERU
