CHRISTMAS MAKES

For gold/ivory card: Cut gold foil
card 5mm less all around than ivory
card, centre and tape or glue it onto
card front. Using reserved ivory
cardstock (with tree cut from centre),
trim it to measure 1cm less all around
than ivory card, then centre and stick
in place. Using mini mounting squares
for a 3D effect, mount a gold tree to
left of card. Position tree a little higher
than cut-out tree and so branches
of both ‘trees’ overlap slightly and
extend beyond gold border.
For kraft card: Cut Ivory cardstock
5mm less all around than kraft card,
centre and tape or glue it to card
front. Cut kraft cardstock 1cm less
all around than kraft card, centre
and glue it onto ivory cardstock.
Glue ivory die-cut tree in centre of
kraft card. Embellish with a wood
flourish in bottom right-hand corner.
For ivory/blue glitter card: Cut
glitter card 5mm less all around than
square ivory card, centre then tape
or glue in place. Using a reserved
ivory cardstock (with tree cut from
centre), trim to measure 10 x 13cm.
Stick it to glitter card with an even
border around 3 sides and a wide
border at left. Embellish with a wood
flourish in bottom left-hand corner.

WALL WREATH
Gather your supplies
Twisted vine wreath: faux green
owlet bunches (2); brown or green
florist wire; long pine cones; faux

gumnuts (2) and berry cluster sprays
(4); craft knife; pins; felt sheets in
brown and 2 shades of blue; wool
felt balls in olive and apple green;
hot-glue gun and glue sticks;
eucalyptus foliage stems, fresh

Here’s how
STEP 1 Starting halfway along 1 side
of wreath and working down toward
its centre, wire an owlet bunch to
wreath. To begin layering your wreath,
wire 2 pine cones, 1 slightly lower
than the other. Start about 7cm down
from top of owlet and wire first pine
cone directly on top of vine, the
other alongside it, spilling inward.
STEP 2 Next, trim gumnut spray to
17cm. Angling it slightly outward,
wire it on top of 1st pine cone, about
12cm down from pine cone tip.
STEP 3 Refer to Steps 1 and 2 to
work opposite side of wreath.
STEP 4 Photocopy to enlarge wavy
flower diagrams (below left). Cut a
paper pattern for each, pin to felt then
cut 2 large and 1 small felt flower.
Centring, stack flowers together, from
large to small. Before gluing together,
swivel flowers so petals appear ruffled.
Cut then glue a 3.5cm felt circle in
centre. Slice through middle of a felt
ball and glue one-half in centre of
brown circle. Make a total of 3 felt
flowers in this way. Facing them in
different directions, glue flowers to
wreath between branch and gumnut
spray ends, concealing them.
STEP 5 Trim stem of berry sprays short.
Working out from centre, glue 2 berry
sprays either side of flowers on outer
edge of wreath. Hot-glue snippets
of fresh eucalyptus leaves, here and
there, filling any obvious gaps.

FLOWER SHOWER
Gather your supplies
Polystyrene wreath flat base (outer dia.
35cm, inner 21cm); utility knife; artist’s
acrylic in deep purple; paintbrush;
faux flowers and foliage: hydrangeas
(2 pink/lavender; 2 blue/lavender),
lilac roses (4), berry spray cluster
blue (2); Helmar Super-Tac Glue;
small pine cones (18); green florist
wire; wire cutters; eucalyptus foliage;
frosty silver grey foliage (2); spanish
moss; clear glass hurricane vase
(about 18 x 30cm tall); candle

Here’s how
NOTE: To secure flowers and foliage
to wreath, first decide placement of
each flower. As you work with each
stem, first poke a small hole into
wreath, fill with glue then push in stem.
STEP 1 Use utility knife to shave a
2cm bevel around wreath’s outer
upper edge, rounding it off.
STEP 2 Paint wreath with 2 coats of
paint, allowing it to dry after each coat.
STEP 3 Cut down stems of
hydrangeas, leaving a short stem.
Evenly space and glue the flower
heads around wreath. Angle flower
heads slightly so they don’t all face
directly upward. Allowing for longer
stems (up to 15cm long), snip rose
stems then evenly space and glue
them around wreath so they face
