om travel
felled when they are not producing sap,
and it is said that sleeping in rooms made
from this kind of timber lowers your heart
rate, thus aiding sleep and wellbeing. Also,
the walls are not connected using glue or
metal, rather from over 70,000 wooden
screws – meaning that the materials are all
completely biological.
Your time and experience here will also be
influenced by the seasons. Throughout ski
season, the mountains are covered in snow,
and Forsthofalm acts as the perfect winter
sports base, giving you instant access to the
slopes, with a snug and welcoming place to
return. OM visited in the summer months, so
there was no sign of snow; instead the sun
was shining and the temperatures were high
enough for us to enjoy the infinity rooftop
pool. Although, as it’s heated to a toasty 32°,
it’s possible to enjoy it whatever the weather.
Yoga studio
The yoga studio is located at the top of the
hotel, and when the weather is fine, classes
can move outside onto the deck, to practice
against the stunning backdrop of the
mountains. On the first night was a Dancing
Warriors class with our teacher, Eve, the
perfect end to a long day of travelling.
All yoga and fitness classes are included
in the room rate as part of the Mountain Life
programme, and classes run throughout the
day. We also took part in a jumping fitness
class, a high energy session on individual
trampolines that’s perfect for anyone
looking for a cardio workout to complement
the yoga.
Alongside the classes, Forsthofalm
also offers guided walks and hikes in the
beautiful Alps. One morning, Eve took us on
a ‘Yogawalk’ to Stöcklalm, a gently energetic
hike into the hills behind the hotel, giving
us even better views of the mountains,
and allowing us the opportunity to soak
up all the peaceful vibes. Our instructor
encouraged us to walk quietly, and to
meditate mindfully on our surroundings.
“It’s a place where
you can enjoy 360°
panoramic views of the
mountains; a place to
immerse yourself in the
stunning scenery of the
Alps, breathing in the
crisp, clear air.”
