  1. Inhale and silently say one of the mantras.

  2. Exhale and imagine sending that mantra to yourself.

  3. Continue to repeat this mantra, focusing on sending love
    to yourself with each repetition.

  4. Next, picture someone in your life to whom you want to
    send love. This can be someone you care for deeply, or it can
    be someone who challenges you. Focus in on them.

  5. Begin the mantra, only this time instead of saying “I” say
    “you.” Inhale and silently say one of the phrases below.


✦ (^) May you be kind and loving.
✦ (^) May you be happy.
✦ (^) May you be healthy.
✦ (^) May you be at peace.



  1. Exhale and send the mantra out to that person.

  2. Continue to repeat this mantra, focusing in on sending
    love and kindness to the person in your thoughts. Repeat this
    process with as many specific people as you want.
