game a little bit.’ I started to crack
up. I wanted to do a great job and
had rehearsed those lines a thousand
times. I was so prepared that day.”
First Friends In The
Cast: “I particularly remember
being welcomed by Ari [Zucker,
Nicole] and Nadia [Bjorlin, Chloe].
I ended up working with them right
off the bat, as well. They also intro-
duced me to the wonderful lunches
they have at Morton’s. Morton’s
can become your
best friend at times,
when the commissary
doesn’t have anything
to choose from. They
were fun and excited
to have me there. We
were talking about
potential storylines
and ideas. They were
the welcome mat for
me at the time.”
First Fan
Event: “It was a Days of Days event. I
thought it was strange, because to my recol-
lection, I hadn’t even aired yet. And I was
being introduced as Brady Black. It was
funny, because the fans were like, ‘Who is
this dude now playing Brady Black?’ ”
First Social Media
Experience: “Alison Sweeney
[ex-Sami] was pretty responsible for me
joining Twitter. She said, ‘Come on. We’re
establishing an account for you, right now.’
We literally did it in the hallway. I didn’t
know what I was doing. She said, ‘Look.
Everyone’s joining and everyone is saying
nice things. Isn’t that great?’ I was over-
whelmed. I don’t know if I just blocked the
bad stuff out, but I don’t remember anything
negative.”
First Time
Being
Recognized:
“I remember some
woman pointing
at me, and she
rattled off like
five names. She
said, ‘Eric. Brady.
Kyle [Lowder, ex-
Brady/Rex]. Ethan
[Martsolf’s PASSIONS role]. Brady Black.’
They were all correct in a way.”
First Emmy Nomination/Win:
“That was 2014. I got both of them in one
shot. I got my first nom, and then I got my
first Emmy. That was a pretty good batting
average. I found out later that I was actually
the first actor to ever win Supporting Actor
for DAYS in 50 years. I hadn’t even realized
that until after the fact. That was a great day.”
First Wedding: “Kristen. That was
my favorite. It was just set up so well. Here
Eric was officiating the wedding, and Brady
was rolling, supposedly, this super-reel of
the love between him and Kristen. Instead,
it’s his brother the priest making love to his
fiancée. I mean, come on. If that isn’t soap
opera, I don’t know what the hell is.”
