LeBron James Kim Jones
“Stranger Things” actor Charlie
Heaton is the new face of LOEWE‘s
spring/summer 2020 menswear
collection. The 25-year-old star is
photographed wearing a LOEWE
ankle-length white tank top paired
with cotton poplin shorts. In a
dramatic fashion, he observes his
reflection in a mirror, his smeared
lipstick imbuing an element of
ambiguity as to the character he is
about to become.
Along with Heaton’s campaign
hero images, creative director
Jonathan Anderson with Steven
Meisel and creative agency M/M
(Paris) also released two other
compelling images.
Taken from a new series titled
“A Show of Hands” to be released
later in the year, the second image
is of a tattooed fist grasping a
grassy clump of earth against a grey
background—a symbol of protest
for today’s turbulent times.

Stay on the Road
Luxe luggage brand Rimowa launched its second Never Still
campaign, featuring NBA all-star player LeBron James, artistic
director of Dior Men Kim Jones and Chinese piano prodigy Yuja
Wang. “As a brand dedicated to the heritage of consumer-focused
craftsmanship, longevity and innovation, Rimowa is committed
to participating in the conversation by adding meaningful cultural
context to our products. Together with this group of diverse global
icons, we continue to open up a conversation beyond travel to
explore what it means and takes to move forward,” said Rimowa’s
CEO Alexandre Arnault. Similar to last year, the films and images
revolve around the concept of travel but what is different this time
around is the additional focus on the challenges of being on the
road, physically and metaphorically. And each personality has three
different directorial teams, Matt Baron filming pianist Wang,
Philippe Tempelman for LeBron and Julien for Jones. The film are
available on Rimowa’s website.
LVMH has appointed Felipe Oliveira Baptista as Kenzo’s new creative
director, just six days after the news that Carol Lim and Humberto Leon
have presented their final collection for Kenzo. The Portuguese-born and
Paris-based designer is best known for his role as Lacoste’s creative director,
a position he held for eight years until May 2018. During his time at Lacoste,
Oliveira Baptista has successfully turned the tennis brand into a runway
mainstay with its freewheeling sportiness and minimal sleek aesthetic. “His
innovative and modern creative vision and well-rounded artistic approach
will enable Kenzo to reach its full potential while respecting its unique
heritage,” says Sylvie Colin, CEO of Kenzo. Oliveira Baptiste starts his new
role as of July 1 and is expected to unveil his first collections for men and
women next February during Paris Men’s Fashion Week for autumn/winter
2020.
