HOW TO: introduce masking to your ink blending to create an advanced card

1 Stamp the image onto black
cardstock using VersaMark
ink. It’s important to use a
stamping platform, as you
will be over stamping the
image later!2 Stamp the image onto
masking paper and trim
the areas you want to add
your ink blending to – you
want the outline of the
masking paper.3 Carefully remove the backing
from the masking paper,
and line up the design onto
the black cardstock, where
there is the faint outline from
the initial stamping using
VersaMark ink.4 Add the ink blending, being
as speci c as you like with
where you place the colours.5 Once you’ve nished adding
colour, remove the mask.
Let the ink dry, then use an
anti-static tool to avoid stray
embossing powder particles.You will need

white to your design to lighten it, you could add on
some white heat embossing, or add some white gel pen detailsTop tip
6 Put the card back into your
stamping platform, re-stamp
the image directly over the
top in VersaMark, then add
your metallic embossing
powder and heat.7 Squish an inkpad onto a
glass cutting mat, water
down and ick across the
background with a small
paint brush.8 To lighten up the design, use
one of the Tim Holtz Mixed
Media dies (the ones that cut
a design into the cardstock)
to add a pattern to the top
left corner. The white from
the card blank will then show
through. Embellish with Nuvo
Drops and a sentiment.
