Make templates (page 90) for H, I,
J, K, and L (page 98). Turn over the
I template for Ir (I reverse).


A: Cut 16 squares 2 ̋ × 2 ̋ from
both background and paw fabrics for
32 total. Cut 8 squares 2 ̋ × 2 ̋ from
both background and star point fab-
rics for 16 total.


B: Cut 16 squares 2 ̋ × 2 ̋ from
both background and paw fabrics for
32 total. Cut 8 squares 2 ̋ × 2 ̋ from
both background and star point fab-
rics for 16 total.


C: Cut 12 squares 11/4 ̋ × 11/4 ̋ from
background fabric.


D: Cut 12 squares 1 ̋ × 1 ̋ from
background fabric.


E: Cut 8 squares 11/2 ̋ × 11/2 ̋ from
paw fabric.


F: Cut 1 square 21/2 ̋ × 21/2 ̋.


G: Cut 4 squares 11/2 ̋ × 11/2 ̋; then
draw a line diagonally on the wrong
side of each.


H: Cut 8.


I and Ir: Cut 4 of each.


J: Cut 4.


K: Cut 4.


Half-Square Triangles



  1. Pair appropriate background and
    paw fabric A and B squares. Then
    draw a diagonal line on the lightest-
    color square of each pairing.

  2. Sew 1/4 ̋ from the drawn line on
    both sides. Cut on the drawn line,
    press the seam open, and trim the
    seam allowance to a generous 1/8 ̋.
    You should have 96 half-square
    triangle units.

Draw a diagonal
line and sew.

Cut.

Cut on the drawn line.
Press the seam open
and trim.


  1. Based on your color fabric choices for A’s and B’s, custom cut a 1 ̋ square
    from each A/A pairing and a 11/4 ̋ square from each B/B pairing, to end up
    with 48 of each.
