Practical Photoshop - UK (2020-04)

Photoshop might be the industry
standard for image editing, but some
of the raw tools in Camera Raw and Lightroom
can perform better. For example, the method
for converting to black and white in Camera
Raw or Lightroom offers more control than
the Photoshop method. In Photoshop, you
have a Black & White adjustment that offers
six color slider controls. By contrast, in the raw
controls you have eight color sliders to use,
allowing you to fine-tune the brightness of
individual color ranges during the conversion.

If you like to
shoot three
or more bracketed
exposures for an
HDR image, raw
is usually a better
choice than JPEG, as
raw captures a wider
dynamic range. JPEGs
are also sharpened
in-camera, and the
sharpening between
frames can conflict
with the HDR
merging process.
