Drawing on the surrounding
Kimball Pines Park, a new logo
designed to better incorporate Marian
E. Burch Adult Day Care into the
umbrella of the Calhoun County
Medical Care Facility (CCMCF) was
unveiled Thursday, Aug. 15.
“The adult day care has always
been a department of the CCMCF
since it first opened in 1992,”
CCMCF Administrator Stephanie
Cornish told an audience of about
200 attending the open house.
“However, we found many com-
munity members didn’t necessarily
see the connection since we had two
different identities. As a result of this
project, we developed a new logo
and look and moved forward to show
the community we are one.”
After announcing the new logo,
Cornish was joined by Calhoun
County Department of Human
Services Board members Sherii
Sherban and Dr. Doug Campbell,
and, Battle Creek Area Chamber of
Commerce President and CEO Kara

2020.
Campbell thanked the residents for
inviting the public into their home
for the open house.
“The past few years have been a
difficult time for the facility and the
day care center,” said Campbell.
“The day care center was closed for
quite a while and the facility had a
lack of staff and things and it was
financially difficult and things so I
really want to thank the staff.”
According to Cornish, the origi-
nal building at 1150 E. Michigan
Avenue in Battle Creek was con-
structed in 1977, followed by an
early 2000s expansion and renova-
tions.
The project more than doubled
the size of the building, adding 84
private rooms, an increase from the
four private rooms it had before the
project.
“The building project and renova-
tions also created six neighborhoods
each with their own dining room, full
kitchen, living area, spa room and
several visiting places,” said Cornish.
The 2020 pandemic, she said,
impacted long term care facilities in
