Adult Day Care Services Week
is celebrated to raise awareness of
Adult Day Care programs and servic-
es that are available nationwide for
frail adults, Dementia, Alzheimer’s,
and persons with disabilities.
The Marian E. Burch Adult Day
Care & Rehabilitation Center is a
501c3 Non-Profit Organization, and
a department of the Calhoun County
Medical Care Facility.
The Center will celebrate Adult
Day Care Services Week the week
of Sept.16–20, that will include the
public open house and Chamber of
Commerce Ribbon Cutting ceremony
on Thursday, Sept. 19 from 1-2:
p.m.
“The open house is an opportunity
for the public to visit the Day Care
Center and obtain more informa-
tion on how to enroll your loved
one to participate at the center,”
said Director Alicia Davis, “which
can significantly improve the lives
of adults and enable them to live at
home with family, friends, or care-
givers. This is also an opportunity
to learn more about our volunteer
opportunities that are available.”

The Adult Day Care &
Rehabilitation Center (ADC) is
designed to provide medical services,
including socialization and activities
to clients 18 years and older who
have physical and/or mental disabili-
ties, she said.
“Rehabilitation services is an
option for clients who are enrolled
in our Adult Day Care program,”
said Davis. “Restorative therapy,
nursing medical monitoring, dietary
and personal care needs are readily
available. The Center provides door
to door transportation to and from
the Center for those who reside in
Calhoun County, at no cost.”
While Quilan attends the day care
two half days per week, retired Air
Force logistics engineer Kathryn
“Kathy” Eberhardt of San Antonio,
TX is there five days a week.
“My husband passed away so I had
to move back home,” said Eberhardt.
“They discovered I have dementia so
that’s kind of a new thing.”
Davis said that Eberhardt has made
the best of her new routines, though,
and even helps other clients.
“She helps them play Bingo and
other things,” said Davis, “and she’s
got a good social group.”
Eberhardt said that at first, she was
against moving back to Battle Creek
to live with her daughters.
“But, it’s the best thing that hap-
pened to me,” she said, “because I’m
meeting people, I’m keeping busy,
I’m making friends. The staff is
good. If I have a broken fingernail,
someone will fix it for me.”
The Marian E. Burch Adult Day
Care & Rehabilitation Center was
built in 1992 and is a 16,000 square
foot accessible building for persons
with disabilities.
The Center was closed temporarily
during the COVID-19 Pandemic but
