Nov.24, 1170. On the same day, the Supervisor of the Household of
the Heir-apparent and other Chin envoys congratulated at the South-
ern Sung court. They had received their orders in the 11th month
(Dec./Jan., 1171) of the Chin year 1170 and arrived on Feb.3, 1171
(Sung shih 34:12a, 12b; Chin shih 6:26a).
On Apr.7, 1171, Southern Sung envoys to the Chin court congratu-
lated on the birthday of Shih-tsung (Chin shih 6:26b).
On Nov.20, 1171, a Gentleman-in-Attendance of the Ministry of
Punishments and other Chin envoys arrived at the Southern Sung
court to congratulate on the birthday of Hsiao-tsung. On Nov.21,
which was the birthday, the envoys were received in audience (Sung
shih 34:14b; Chin shih 6:27b).
On Jan.27, 1172, the New Year’s Day, Southern Sung envoys
congratulated at the Chin court. They had received their orders on
Nov.7, 1171. On the same day, Chin envoys congratulated at the
Southern Sung court. They had arrived on Jan.23 (Sung shih 34:14b;
Chin shih 7:1a).
On Mar.5, 1172, Hsiao-tsung sent envoys to the Chin court to con-
gratulate Shih-tsung on his honoured title and once more to request a
change in the protocol of receiving communications. They returned
in the 7th month (July/Aug.) with the answer that Chin had rejected
the request (Sung shih 34:15a, 16a).
On Mar.26, 1172, Southern Sung envoys to the Chin court con-
gratulated on the birthday of Shih-tsung. They had received their
orders on Jan.4 (Sung shih 34:154b; Chin shih 7:1b).
On May 23, 1172, a Southern Sung mission was received at the
Chin court (Chin shih 7:2a).
On Nov.8, 1172, the Vice Inspector-general of the Right and other
Chin envoys arrived at the Southern Sung court to congratulate on the
birthday of Hsiao-tsung.^39 They had received their orders on Oct.4
(Sung shih 34:16a-16b; Chin shih 7:2b).
On Jan.16, 1173, the New Year’s Day, Southern Sung envoys
congratulated at the Chin court. They had received their orders on
Oct.30, 1172. On the same day, Chin envoys congratulated at the
Southern Sung court. They had arrived on Jan.12 (Sung shih 34:16a,
16b;Chin shih 7:4a).
