BEACH VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

The 3rd European University Beach Volleyball Championship
took place from June 23 to 26, 2006 in Latina, Italy. 22 men
and 17 women university teams from 17 European countries
took part in the championship, and this represented a new
record according to the number of participating countries on
the European Universities Championships. The event was or-
ganised by the Italian University Sports Association together
with the CUS Roma. The participant’s level was very good.
Present were some experienced players from FIVB World Tour
Qualification events and some competitors who played in the
World University Championship in Protaras the week before.
Many spectators and honourable guests from the Province
Latina, the City of Latina and universities followed the event
that finished with exciting final matches. The gold went
for the first time to Spain in men, and Germany in women
competition.
