Hua Shi Talcum 9 g
Da Huang Rhizoma Rhei 6 g
Zhi Zi Fructus Gardeniae jasminoidis 6 g
Zhi Gan Cao Radix Glycyrrhizae uralensis praeparata 6 g

Explanation



  • Bian Xu, Che Qian Zi, Qu Mai, Mu Tong and Hua Shi all drain Damp-Heat from the
    Bladder and open the Water passages.

  • Da Huang clears Heat by moving downwards. This method is sometimes combined with
    that of clearing Heat via urination, as all the previous herbs do.

  • Zhi Zi drains Damp-Heat from the Three Burners.

  • Zhi Gan Cao harmonizes and stops pain.


This is the main prescription to drain Damp-Heat from the Bladder.


Variations



  • If symptoms of Dampness are very pronounced add Fu Ling Sclerotium Poriae cocos and
    Zhu Ling Sclerotium Polypori umbellati.

  • If constipation is pronounced increase Da Huang Rhizoma Rhei and add Zhi Shi Fructus
