c. Right-click and select Format Cells. Under the Number tab, select Frac-
tion and Up to two digits (21/25). Press Enter.


  1. Build the calculations table.


a. Select C7 down to F24 and right-click. Select Format Cells.

b. Set the borders to Outline and Inside.

c. Select C7-F7 and set the font to Ariel, 10 pt, bold. Type in the words
Height, Width, Length, and Volume in C7, D7, E7, and, F7, respectively.

d. Select C8-E24. Under the Number tab, select Fraction and Up to two
digits (21/25). Select E8-E24. Under the Number tab, select Fraction
and Up to three digits (312/943).

e. Type in the starting number at C7. In this example, you will use 0.25.

f. Set up the height formula in column C.
Type in the following formula in C9: =C8+$A$8

g. Set up the width formula in column D.
Type in the following formula in D8: =8.5-2*C8
Click in D9 and press Ctrl+D to copy the formula.

h. Set up the length formula in column E.
Type in the following formula in E8: =11-2*C8
Copy down to E9.

i. Set up the volume formula in column F.
Type in the following formula in F8: =C8*D8*E8
Copy down to F9.

j. Select C9-F9; drag the mouse to copy the formulas down to C24-F24.


  1. Find the maximum value.
    Select D27-E27 and right-click. Select Format Cells and make the font
    Ariel, 10 pt, bold. Make the horizontal alignment right-aligned and merge
