journalists that there should be any explanation of who
“Mohammed the statesman” was, because that would
indicate that “political Islam” has existed since
Mohammed’s totalitarianism forced the multicultural Pagans
to drive him out of Mecca. Even when a “moderate
Muslim” (who is one of the most distinguished professors
of international politics in the West) turned his attention
to writing a book-length study on the distinction between
Islam and Islamism, he did so in an entirely ahistorical
way, avoiding all discussion of a thousand years of
Islamic doctrines and a thousand years of history of war,
genocide and theocratic rule that are the emblematic of
the current Islamic State in Syria. With rare exception, this
Muslim professor’s three hundred page book concentrates
on twentieth-century comparisons between “Islamism” and
Communism etc. By ignoring the events and doctrines of
the previous thirteen hundred years, he convinces himself
that Islamism is not Islam,^243 that Muslims who employ the
most horrific violence against the Kuffar in order to bring
about a theocratic state are copying Stalin and Hitler rather
than emulating the behaviour of Mohammed. The Islamic
State and Boko Haram do not look to Mein Kampf for the
rules they must follow, but look to the behaviour (sunnah)
of Mohammed, as found in the Koran, the Hadiths, and the
life of Mohammed. This distinguished professor claims that
“Islamism is a political religion [...] it originated in
1928”.^244 He can only make such a ridiculous claim by
ignoring books like The Origins of the Islamic State (1916),
published twelve years before this “political religion” was
supposedly invented in 1928. Furthermore, the original
