physician Franceso Galasso, who died in


1992, who has honored the dialect of


Avigliano, gathering in ‘Nda lu bèllevere [In


the Belvedere] (Lavello, Finiguerra) sonnets,


poems, songs and prayers, that succeed in


attenuating the sentimentality with which


the provincial world is often looked upon


with a vision that can capture the drama and


the tensions of the people of Avigliano. In


this idiom, showing extensive Latin roots,


are evident both Appenine and Neapolitan


forms, with slight traces of the Puglia type.
